The Additive Manufacturing Leadership Initiative (AMLI), based at Tooling U-SME, undertook the updating of the Additive Manufacturing Body of Knowledge in 2016, in order to reflect this rapidly evolving manufacturing process. The AMLI consists of Tooling U-SME, America Makes, the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC), and Technician Education in Additive Manufacturing & Materials (TEAMM), whose work was greatly informed by over 500 additive manufacturing professionals who responded to the Additive Manufacturing BOK update questionnaire. This body of knowledge will serve as the basis for the Tooling U-SME Additive Manufacturing Certification Program, which includes a review course and an exam.
