This presentation will give a detailed picture of the process stages and associated computerized tools for custom ankle-foot orthothis (AFO) development, spanning from 3D scanning to 3D printing. The process stages include 3D scanning with a Faro Arm, data manipulation and STL file generation in Geomagic Studio, reduction of polygons in Meshlab, and final design in the Meshmixer software before 3D printing. Each step will be examined in terms of its content, associated tools and its challenges. The presentation will be concluded by summarizing the development experience take aways and its applicability to other orthotic devices and future market demands.
