An Open Material Database for Additive Manufacturing

In this presentation, we will discuss the open Additive Manufacturing Materials Database (AMMD) developed at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This database is built using the NIST Material Data Curation System (MDCS) as a backend with structure provided by NIST’s Integrated Additive Manufacturing Information Model. Providing a collaboration platform, the openly accessible database is set to evolve through sharing of the AM data schema and pedigreed material data among the stakeholders in the AM community. As data sets continue to accumulate, it becomes possible to establish new correlations between processes, materials, and parts. The functionality of the AMMD is demonstrated through the curation and querying of several data sets generated from NIST metal material round robin tests.
