In the last few years, clinical institutions have started to embrace 3D printing to augment diagnostic images and provide clinicians with physical, anatomical models prior to a procedure. The process of developing a 3D model and 3D print from medical images is already well documented. This presentation, leveraging the experience of over 320 3D printed cardiovascular cases, describes perceived best use cases identified by collaborating cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons. The 3D print cases include septal defects, valvar disease, complex congenital, and inter-institutional planning.
