Senior Research Chemist
REM Surface Engineering
Dr. Agustin Diaz earned a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico in 2010, after which he joined the Chemistry Department at Texas A&M University as a postdoctoral fellow. During his time at Texas A&M, Dr. Diaz held active collaborations with the departments of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Chemical Engineering, and the Mechanical Engineering, as well as with the College of Pharmacy. His research focused on the synthesis, intercalation and surface modification of inorganic layered nanomaterials (ILN) for a variety of applications; including drug delivery, emulsion stabilizers, fire retardants, Janus particles, catalysis, catalytic supports, among others. In early 2014 Dr. Diaz joined the REM Surface Engineering team as a Senior Research Chemist, where he is currently working in the R&D department. He is the author of over 21 peer-reviewed research papers, has over 400 citations, various patents, and a book chapter on the chemistry of Zirconium Phosphates.
