PhD Candidate – Research Assistant
Amir Namin received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University (PU). During his undergraduate studies, he was assigned to the energy team of a green design sustainable energy research program as a scholar at Purdue University. In this project, he and his energy team-mates designed and performed simulation analysis on a backup battery system for solar cell panels to serve the required electricity for student dormitories. His 1.5 year work experience as a project engineer at Nargan Engineers and Constructors improved his quantitative, data collection and management skills. The Engineering Management Master’s curriculum at Northeastern University, has helped Amir advance his analytical, statistical, optimization, problem solving, and economic decision making skills. He started his PhD in Industrial Engineering at Northeastern University in September 2014. His research assistant experience during these past years improved his research skills, creative thinking and knowledge on Nano-manufacturing, 3D printing and their applications especially in medical field. Attending several conferences, as well as RAPID 2017 during his PhD studies, helped him to explore the applicability of additive manufacturing in the medical area. Furthermore, he received the Additive Manufacturing Fundamental Certification from SME by taking the test at RAPID 2017.
