Dr. Daniel Walczyk is a professor of mechanical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He also serves as Director of the Center for Automation Technologies and Systems, a NY-funded center that focuses on R&D in advanced manufacturing, automation and robotics. His primary research focus is new manufacturing process development, especially related to composites and additive. He received his PhD from MIT in 1996, PE from NY State in 1994, a MS from Rensselaer in 1991 and a BS from Syracuse University in 1986, all in mechanical engineering. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Walczyk worked for seven years in industry, primarily with GE, as a machine designer and research engineer.
