David Dean, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery in the College of Medicine, and a member of the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cell-Based Therapies, at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He directs the Osteo Engineering Laboratory where research focuses on musculoskeletal regenerative medicine. He earned the PhD degree at the City University of New York (New York, NY) in 1993. Research in the Osteo Engineering Laboratory utilizes a variety of additive manufacturing technologies, as well as Computer Aided Design software, and biomechanical modeling for the design and fabrication of polymer, metal, and ceramic medical devices. In addition to inert devices fabricated from these materials the Osteo Engineering Lab’s research also utilizes resorbable materials, bone progenitor cells, bioactive molecules, and bioreactor technologies for the production of tissue engineered bone grafts.
