Jaime Bonnín Roca is a PhD Candidate in a dual program between Carnegie Mellon University and Instituto Superior Técnico (Portugal). He holds a MSc in Aeronautical Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (Spain). After graduating, he spent 3 months at Singularity University, a Silicon Valley business incubator focused on high-tech and social entrepreneurship. He worked for two and a half years at the European Space Agency as a Test and Validation Engineer. In Fall 2014 he started his PhD. His research has focused on the technical and regulatory challenges in the introduction of metal additive manufacturing in civil aviation, and policy approaches to balance innovation and safety. Currently he is working on the development of policies to foster the adoption of additive manufacturing in the context of latecomer countries.
