Mr. Nasir Mannan is presently a Manufacturing Research and Applications Engineer at the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Advanced Manufacturing Center and also Owner and President of Mannan 3D Innovations (M3DI), LLC, a company focused in the development of affordable, automated structured light 3D scanning systems. He received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Mannan specializes in the research and development of automated structured light 3D scanners as well as the design and development of electro mechanical devices such as multi axis robotic systems and advanced vision systems. His early work in machine vision algorithm development addressed the challenges of digitally reconstructing physical parts in high resolution and high accuracy such that the digital model could be used for metrology, simulation, reverse modeling/engineering and analysis applications. His development of feature extraction and segmentation algorithms allowed the digital recognition of features for use in downstream applications. He currently holds two US patents.
