Fab Lab Hub
Sarah Boisvert, founder Fab Lab Hub and Chief 3D Printing officer of Potomac Photonics, Inc., has worked in digital fabrication including laser micromachining and 3D printing for over 30 years. In 1986, she co-founded the commercial division of Potomac Photonics, a micro manufacturing service provider serving the microelectronics, medical device, biotech, automotive, aeronautics and consumer products industries. Upon the sale of Potomac Photonics in 1999, Ms. Boisvert founded Fab Lab Hub, a part of the MIT-based Fab Lab Network. The non-profit runs the highly successful DigiFabCon, now in its 5th year exploring the social impact of digtal fabrication technology. She has created curriculum for digital fabrication courses and certifications which are now being offered through the American Digital Fabrication Alliance [ADFA]. As part of ADFA, Fab Workforce is a new community platform linking employers/manufacturers, talent, and digital fabrication training programs. In 2012 Ms. Boisvert returned to Potomac as Chief 3D Printing Officer to help incorporate additive manufacturing into the traditional contract serivce factory floor. She is a past president of the Laser Institute of America and volunteers in the Enable Boston 3DPrint4Good prosthetic hand project.
