Sylvain Turenne, Ph.D. is Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Polytechnique Montreal. His main research interest is defined in physical metallurgy, materials processing and materials characterization. More precisely, the research activities are aligned towards the relationship between the processing parameters of the materials, their resulting microstructure and the different mechanical and physical properties. This approach has been applied over the last 25 yearsto diverse research fields: near-net-shape forming in the semi-solid state, modeling in powder metallurgy, powder injection molding, modeling of sand casting, machine design, thermoelectricity, electron-beam welding of nickel superalloys, failure analysis.
