Dr. Thomas Maloney Chief Technology Officer Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. Tom Maloney is the Chief Technology Officer at the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT) where he sets the technical vision and strategic direction in alternative energy and advanced manufacturing technologies. Tom is a senior-level professional with over 25 years of experience in advanced manufacturing and alternative energy technologies for commercial, aerospace, and military applications. He served as CCAT’s Principal Investigator for the $75M multi-state National Aerospace Leadership Initiative to develop and insert advanced manufacturing technologies into the U.S. military supply chain. Tom also led CCAT’s $20M DoD alternative fuels effort for deriving clean liquid fuels from biomass, coal, and waste feed sources. Tom’s prior experience includes development of space power systems at NASA Glenn Research Center where he developed electrochemical power systems, including fuel cells, batteries, and capacitors for planetary missions. He was the hydrogen fueling product leader for Proton Onsite, and UTC Power’s Technical Project leader to develop a 300kW Fuel Cell Powerplant for the Spanish Navy S-80 submarine. Tom served as an adjunct faculty member at University of Connecticut and Cleveland State University and as a Visiting Researcher at Argonne National Laboratory. Tom earned his Engineering Doctorate and M.S. Chemical Engineering at Cleveland State University and his B.S. Chemical Engineering at the Ohio State University.
