Tom Scotton is currently the Principal of his own consulting firm, Digital Manufacturing Services, LLC based in Middletown, Connecticut. In this capacity he works as an advisor and project manager with industry, universities, Department of Defense and industry groups promoting the concepts and implementation of Digital Manufacturing technologies in their facilities. In total, Tom as worked on manufacturing process development related projects for over 37 years. Prior to this, Tom was the Director, Modeling and Simulation at the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technlogy (CCAT). In this capacity he was responsible for the development of a world class modeling and simulation team as well as a state of the art modeling and simulation training and education center. Under Tom’s direction, CCAT acquired and developed expertise in physics based process modeling tools, machining process optimization, non-contact inspection tools (with a focus on Structured Light Scanning) and worked closely with Supply Chain Aerospace component manufacturers to become more lean and efficient in their production processes through the use of these types of tools as well as discrete event factory modeling and simulation technologies. Prior to joining CCAT, Tom worked for 10 years as an Application Engineer, Sales Executive, and in Business Partner Development roles at both Deneb Robotics, and DELMIA Corporation promoting Digital Manufacturing Solutions. Prior to this, he worked for 17 years at United Technologies Research Center, as a research engineer in the area of Manufacturing and Automation Technology R&D.
