The 3MF file format was created to overcome the limitations of legacy 3D file types and support the growing complexity of additive manufacturing workflows. With support for full-fidelity data—including materials, color, lattice structures, and build metadata—3MF is widely adopted across hardware and software platforms.

This session will highlight current applications of 3MF, recent developments like the Volumetric Extension for voxel and implicit geometry, and ongoing work on a new Toolpath Extension. Panelists will discuss how 3MF is enabling more reliable, interoperable, and production-ready workflows across the industry.
