Davide Masato is an assistant professor in the Department of Plastics Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML). His current research focus on the development of plastics manufacturing technologies, with focus to micro and precision components. Dr. Masato’s research group is studying the effect of surface properties on polymer flows, aiming at tool functionalization and creation of new design opportunities. His research interests include injection molding, surface engineering and micro manufacturing.
Davide Masato received his BS Mechanical Engineering (2011), MS Mechanical Engineering (2014) and PhD (2018) from the University of Padova in Italy. In 2016 he was a visiting researcher at the University of Bradford (UK), where he worked at the Centre for Polymer Micro and Nano Technology (Polymer MNT). Prior to joining the faculty at UMass Lowell, he was a post-doc researcher at the University of Padova, where he worked at the Te.Si. Laboratory for Precision Engineering and Manufacturing. From 2015, Davide Masato, PhD was a teaching assistant at the University of Padova for courses pertaining to engineering of plastics processes and injection molding process simulation.
