Glenn S. Daehn is the Mars G. Fontana Professor of Metallurgical Engineering within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University. The focus of his work spans from process innovation in creating new manufacturing processes, to providing authentic content and professional development for K-12 STEM teachers, to advancing manufacturing policy with a focus on the role of the 21st-century land grant university. Most of his current process innovation work is in developing impulse-based manufacturing processes for the joining, shaping, and cutting of material. Daehn is also active in a number of manufacturing initiatives, playing a key role in establishing the Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow Manufacturing USA institute, the Ohio State Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence, and the Ohio Manufacturing Institute. He also served on the executive committee for MForesight (Alliance for Manufacturing Foresight) for its active period. He received his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Stanford University and an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University.
