Howard Sizek, PhD, is a principal materials scientist in the Propulsion, Structures and Manufacturing Enterprise Branch of AFRL Manufacturing and Industrial Technologies Division. He is currently serving as the AFRL liaison to the Rapid Sustainment office in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center. Sizek has been in been a civilian in the Air Force for the last 16 years. Before AFRL, he worked for more than a decade in the nickel alloy metals production industry (Inco Alloys International/Special Metals). His experience ranged from mechanical testing to modeling metal working processes including open die forging, rolling, heat treating. Sizek also developed and characterized alloys for high-temperature corrosive environments. He has a doctorate in materials science and engineering from Northwestern University, a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in pre-engineering from Illinois College.
