Dr. John Porter, Senior Scientist at Castheon, Inc., has a BSc from Sussex University and a PhD from Imperial College. After postdoctoral studies at Cornell University, UC Berkeley and Lehigh University, he became an assistant professor at the University of Southern California. Dr. Porter then spent 20 years with the Rockwell Science Center (now Teledyne Scientific and Imaging) mostly supporting Rocketdyne (now Aerojet Rocketdyne), was a center director at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), and a researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He then became a senior scientist at UES Inc., before joining Castheon. Dr. Porter has expertise in metals, ceramics, ceramic matrix composites and metal-ceramic joining. He is an experienced electron microscopist, with TEM, SEM, EDS, EBSD, etc. At UES, he led a RIF contract to develop the technology to additively manufacture rotating components for rocket engines with CalRAM, Faraday Technology, and the University of Cincinnati, with Aerojet Rocketdyne as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner.
