Mary Calvin graduated from Drexel University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Material Science and Engineering. She worked for one year as a Biomedical Engineer at DSM working on the development of an injectable bone cement before joining Arkema’s Altuglas division in 2015 as a Senior Polymer Engineer. Arkema is world-leading manufacturer of specialty chemicals and advanced materials. The Altuglas subsidiary of Arkema is a global leader in acrylic materials. As a Senior Polymer Engineer, Mary focuses on material development, characterization, and process optimization of new acrylic materials. She primarily supports automotive and building and construction applications. Her recent projects have lead her towards investigating the use of acrylic in additive manufacturing, specifically fused filament fabrication. When she is not running equipment you will often find her running marathons. To date Mary has run ten and has a goal to run at least one in every state.
