Dr. Meredith Heilig is Chief Executive Officer of AMPP Technologies, where she leverages her knowledge of phase transformations and degradation mechanisms in developing innovative post processing solutions for additive manufacturing. Dr. Heilig discovered her passion for materials science upon her first exposure to electron microscopy and physical metallurgy during her time at Trine University where she earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Following five years working in the ferrous recycling and metal casting industry, she commenced graduate studies in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines where she earned MS and PhD degrees. Upon receiving a fellowship from the German Academic Exchange Service, she joined the Department of Biochemical Engineering at the Technical University of Dortmund. There she spent two years as a visiting research associate in the Biomaterials and Polymer Science Laboratory studying the effects of rare earth additions to stress corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys. Her post-graduate industrial experience includes leading a materials research program centered on the use of non-oxide ceramics for biomass gasification reactors and directing a metallurgical laboratory focused on investigating failure and corrosion mechanisms in a range of materials and applications.
