Medical Modeling
Materials and Manufacturing (M4) Lab at The Ohio State University
Natalia von Windheim, PhD is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Medical Modeling, Materials and Manufacturing (M4) Lab at The Ohio State University. Her current work focuses on the anatomic models in craniofacial reconstruction and how 3D printing enables new medical solutions. She is interested in developing point-of-care manufacturing capabilities for innovation and medical device development focused on improving patient outcomes. This work is enabled through the M4 Lab’s interdisciplinary collaboration of OSU’s Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence, Institute for Materials Research, and the James Comprehensive Cancer Center. Prior to joining OSU, she completed her PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University. At Duke, her research addressed the mechanical property challenges of fused deposition modeling (FDM), the most accessible form of 3D printing but limited for functional devices due to inadequate layer fusion. Additionally, she was a Tech Transfer Fellow in the Office of Licensing and Ventures and collaborated with restor3D, a 3D printing medical device company.
