Principal Engineer
Ohio State University - Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence
Pete Schupska is a principal mechanical engineer at The Ohio State University's Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME). Before joining CDME in February of 2022, he spent more than 15 years in the automotive and fluid power industries; most recently at TS Tech as Product Engineering Manager responsible for validation testing and FEA/CAE simulation for automotive seating products. He previously worked as a Senior Design Engineer at Swagelok and Parker Hannifin after beginning his career at Honda R&D as a Chassis Design Engineer. At OSU, he is a key leader in the Materials and Process division, contributing mechanical design and manufacturing applied research operations. He has extensive experience in mechanical design, process development, and statistical analysis. Pete received his Master’s in Engineering Management from Ohio University and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University; he completed Green and Black Belt in Design for Six Sigma, certified through the University of Michigan. He is currently pursuing Ph.D. in Integrated Systems Engineering studying manufacturing technologies. At CDME, My research focuses on advancing modern manufacturing through the integration of materials science, digital technologies, and workforce development. I am particularly interested in connecting legacy manufacturing processes with emerging technologies and understanding how variability influences real-world performance of manufactured components. Alongside these technical areas, I am committed to developing innovative experiential education and training programs that translate research outcomes into practical skills.
