Dr. Wise has been working with 3D printed parts since the early 1990’s when he first used 3D printed patterns as mandrels to make electroformed Cu & Ni injection mold tooling. In 2000, RePliForm was founded to continue in that vein, but customers wanted functional parts WITHOUT tooling. In partnership with Pitney Bowes, RePliForm developed a method to electroplate printed parts in order to make them stronger and more durable. From these early tests on a single SLA resin, RePliForm has developed reliable methods to process almost any type of 3D printed resin material for applications that included traditional ones such as cosmetic, EMI shielding, corrosion and wear resistance to those that take full advantage of the structural strength, electric and thermal properties of the coatings.
