As 3D printing becomes increasingly utilized in hospitals, it is imperative that radiologists understand the many applications of 3D printing and the workflow required to create patient-specific anatomic models and guides from medical imaging data. The RSNA 3D Special Interest Group (SIG) is a group of physicians, engineers, and healthcare professionals focused on helping to promote 3D printing for medical applications via education, research, and collaboration. This presentation will review the importance of radiologist participation as well as the SIG and its major initiatives including anatomic model reimbursement, the RSNA/ACR 3D printing registry, appropriate use guidelines, quality assurance, education, and outreach.
