Jim Wise

Production Program Manager
Prototek Digital Manufacturing
Jim Wise attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins. During his first year, Jim began volunteering at the Idea2Product 3D Printing Lab and continued to work there throughout his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Over time, Jim advanced his role from Volunteer to Lab Technician to the leading Manager of the student-run lab, working under his mentor, Dr. David Prawel while also earning a Minor in Spanish and actively participating in Engineers Without Borders CSU. Additionally, Jim completed an internship with Chroma Strand Labs, a 3D printing filament company in Loveland, where he wrote open-source documentation and produced filament for hobbyists and RepRap OEMs. In 2019, Jim met the Midwest Prototyping team (now Prototek) at AMUG, leading him to move to Madison, Wisconsin, shortly after graduation. Jim began as a Production Technician cleaning parts, but quickly worked his way up to an AM Engineer, developing analyses for aerospace work. Currently, Jim is the Production Program Manager, responsible for coordinating teams to complete aerospace jobs and production-level work that requires higher-level qualification requirements.
