Dr. Hsu is an Engineering Professor at Arizona State University. Dr. Hsu has over 15 years of research and development experience in advanced manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and materials science. He received his PhD in ME from UIUC in 2009. His research work primarily focuses on areas of advanced manufacturing at multiple scales in both subtractive and additive approaches. He has served as the Principal Investigator for over 20 R&D programs (including two STTRs and one SBIR) in areas of solid-state electrochemistry, scale-able nanomanufacturing, additive manufacturing process and materials, electroactive polymer smart devices, and CO2 capture and conversion. These programs have been funded by federal agencies including the National Science Foundation, NASA, AFRL, ONR, as well as tech firms including Intel, Northrup Grumman, and Ivaldi Group. His work has generated over 60 publications and patents. He is also the co-founder of Reverb Industrial, commercializing the massively accessible metal AM technology his university team invented and developed.
