Marvin Uhlig

Research Intern
Fraunhofer USA
Marvin Uhlig is a research intern in the Diamond Technologies division of Fraunhofer USA Center Midwest, where he is working on his master’s thesis from the Technical University of Dresden, where he is studying mechatronics engineering. In addition to his university studies, he is specializing in the field of additive manufacturing. Before he joined Fraunhofer USA he worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology located in Dresden, studying the field of additive manufacturing and helped to develop the POWDERscreen, a powder flow meter for laser metal deposition. At Fraunhofer USA, he focuses on metal fused filament manufacturing, specifically the development and optimization of low-temperature co-fired alumina ceramic and copper filament printing, debinding, and sintering processes. Here, he is focusing on correlating printing and processing parameters to generate ceramic and metal components with high density. With the help of a multidisciplinary team of the Fraunhofer network he is also trying to push additive manufacturing to the next limits.
